BEE Federal Credit Union has been serving members since 1955 and has as its mission the responsibility for providing an efficient, effective, and well-managed financial institution that meets the needs of its membership. In order to accomplish this mission, the BEE Federal Credit Union will continue a sound yet progressive asset management strategy and provide new and improved financial services to current and future members through membership input and management initiatives.
Chartered in 1954 under the Federal Credit Union Act of 1934, Wicomico County Teachers Association Federal Credit Union, as it was first named, was established to serve the employees of the Wicomico County Public Schools and their families. In 1976 the name of the credit union was changed to BEE Federal Credit Union (BEEFCU). During 2023 NCUA approved the move from a single common bond credit union to a multiple common bond federal credit union which enabled BEEFCU to expand their field of membership to include employees of Wicomico County Government. The purpose of the credit union, however, has never changed – to serve members and their family with the highest quality financial services that we can offer.
There are a lot of things to worry about these days, but the safety of your money in your credit union isn’t one of them. Your money is safe, and your accounts are fully insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) up to $250,000. There is no risk to keeping money in your account, but there are countless risks to holding on to cash. Federal credit unions are not-for-profit institutions and are owned by their members. Members have the privilege of electing their Board of Directors on an annual basis and attending an annual meeting to hear reports on the financial condition of their credit union. We are governed by a set of Bylaws approved by the National Credit Union Administration and subject to annual examination by the NCUA examination division and by independent Supervisory Committee Auditors. We currently offer share savings accounts and loans, such as car, truck, motorcycle, RV, share secured loans, as well as non-secured loans for many situations. There are privileges with being a member of a federal credit union and perhaps one of the most important is that we care about you and are here to assist you in whatever way that we can! Our goal is to provide you, the member, with the best service possible and in a manner that will exceed your expectations!
